Photographic Reading, Writing and Performing Workshop

What is the darkroom and how do we inhabit it? This one day workshop will develop and further your understanding of the darkroom as a space of creativity, experimentation and play, through exercises of reading, writing, and performing. Writing and reading in their traditional form will be tussled around, expanded upon and melded with photography, used to question ideas around the process of creating images, words and stories. You will work collaboratively to build and rebuild narratives, and create process-led cameraless photographs. This workshop is for the curious and the risk takers.

Learner Level: New-to - Intermediate

New-to : First time in a Black and White Darkroom, never developed a roll of film, or hand printed a photograph.

Beginner : Have had some experience being in a Black and White Darkroom, have developed a roll of film (35mm, 120mm, 5x4”) or hand printed a photograph (on resin coated or fibre based paper).

Intermediate : Have ample experience working in a Black and White Darkroom, can develop a roll of film (35mm, 120mm, 5x4”) and hand print photographs (on resin coated or fibre based paper) without guidance.
